Who are We?
The problem: Tarvisio - Villach via Internet: 1718 Kmeters
The problem: Trieste - Koper via Internet: 2223 Kmeters
“Why? Each PC connected to The Internet can communicate with ANY other PC connected to The Internet.”
1970 - 1980: Development of separate Scientific Networks, each of them connected to the USA (only contact point between them)
The Academic Network solution (1990)
1990 - 1998: Development of separate Commercial Networks, each of them connected to the USA
Other solution: European Backbones and National NAP: Neutral Access Point
Non so good for peripheral Regions As Friuli - Venezia Gliulia is with respect to Italy
University and AREA needed good connections BOTH with Scientific networks and at least one commercial Internet provider
Our Solution: Local Neutral Access Point, L-NAP open to ALL Internet Providers
But our L-Nap is in Trieste! What about links Udine - Gorizia?
